Our philosophy is simple. Moreforkids is here to offer your children the care, comfort, fun and safety they deserve. And for you, the peace of mind that comes from knowing your child is in the best of hands. Each day promises an exciting new adventure, and we make sure each child experiences the joys of a truly caring environment.

The vision of our early childhood education programs is to work in partnership with families and the community. We believe in enhancing the abilities and skills of the whole child, including social, physical, intellectual, communication, and emotional (SPICE) development.
To achieve our vision, our beliefs are:
  • All children are capable of learning and have individual needs, skills, and talents.
  • Children learn best in a setting that reflects the diversity of the community.
  • Children learn best as active participants in co-operative, play-based experiences.
  • Children learn best through experiences that enhance their self-esteem, help them make choices, and develop competencies.
  • Children learn best using a unified developmentally appropriate curriculum, utilizing child-centered teaching practices and support services.
  • Parents/caregivers are the child’s primary and on-going teachers, sharing equally in the child’s education.
  • Open and honest communications between staff members, as well as, with parents/caregivers help to enhance a child’s education.
  • The sharing of diverse points of view and the encouragement of risk-taking will generate new ideas.
  • Preschool experiences provide the child with the foundation for on-going learning and support the child and family to become responsible partners in community life.
Kia ora,

My name is Sherryll Markie-Brookes.

I am the Centre Manager for MoreForKids, Gisborne.

I became involved in the Early Childhood Sector in the early 1980s teaching at Pickering Street Kindergarten.  I was encouraged to undertake study and finally graduated with my Diploma in Early Childhood in the early 90s.  My journey has taken me from Managing the parenting program, Parents As First Teachers, to training and facilitating educational programs throughout NZ to designing, outfitting and staffing an Early Childhood Centre in Auckland licensed for 110 children.

Throughout my journey of over 30 years, my focus has always been on children’s safety and protection and their early years of educational and social development.

At MoreForKids we strive for great outcomes for our children.  Learning in an environment with committed teachers, a centre that is stimulating and challenging, safe and inspiring, gives children the opportunity to create love of learning.  This is turn will set them up for their future education and eventually the skills to be confident employees and business owners in the future.

At MoreForKids, we strive for great things for our children and our Teachers.  Come join the journey with us : )

Tena koutou Katoa,

My name is Nancy Wyrill.

I am happily married to Shane and we are the proud parents of 4 adult children, 1 school child and 1 angel child.  I am from Ngati Porou, but born and raised in Te Karaka.

I qualified with my Diploma in Teaching in 2008 through Wairaiki.  I graduated in 2010 with my Bachelor in Teaching through Canterbury University.  I have my full Teacher Registration Certificate and my First Aid Certificate.

I returned to Gisborne after leaving eight years ago where I gained experience working for a Professional Development provider contracted to the Ministry of Education.

I am now the Team Leader/Curriculum Leader for MoreForKids Childcare which I am enjoying greatly.  Being able to share, guide and support the team using my knowledge and experience will ensure teachers create quality program plans for individual children.

I look forward to working with and alongside children, teachers, whanau and management to ensure we provide a quality service to the communities of Turanganui-A-Kiwa.
